Grandma's Italian Gravy

 Serves 4-6

Total Cook Time: 110 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Olive oil (enough to coat the bottom of a sauce pan)

  • 2 28oz cans, organic whole plum tomatoes (San Marzano are the best, you can also use garden fresh tomatoes too!)

  • 1 yellow onion, minced

  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 3 8 oz cans, organic tomato sauce

  • 1 7 oz can, organic tomato paste

  • 1 tbs fresh basil, chopped

  • 1 tbs fresh parsley, chopped

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Use  a blender to blend whole tomatoes into a sauce consistency (reserve on the side).

  2. Sauté garlic and onion in olive oil on medium heat.

  3. Pour blended tomatoes  into the pot with garlic and onion.

  4. Add tomato paste, sauce, basil, parsley, and salt/pepper to taste.

  5. Bring to a boil.

  6. Simmer on low for 1 and 1/2 hours.

*Make with meatballs and add the meatballs to the gravy. Simmering the meatballs in the gravy gives the gravy it's delicious flavor.
